In the Works: Imogene Durant Mystery #3 by Janice MacDonald

MARCH 30, 2026

Turnstone Press is pleased to announce that Janice MacDonald's third Imogene Durant Mystery, My Heart Belongs to Dante, will be released this fall under Turnstone’s Ravenstone Imprint.

Imogene is in Italy, armed with the celebrated Dorothy L. Sayers translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy to guide her through the golden streets of Tuscany’s favourite city, Florence. As always, Imogene finds time, while researching her next book, to wander the romantic streets of the Medici’s, tasting various flavours of gelato and drinking limoncello.

And though she might be a stranger whose Italian is very much read-only, familiar faces are not far away. Her friend Toni pops over from France for a conference, and she even coaxes Daniel, her “gentleman caller” from back home in Edmonton, over for a few days. But Florence’s rich culture might be overshadowed by its dark past. Perhaps Imogene should have chosen to study a place less connected to murder. Especially now that she’s connected to a series of macabre discoveries.

Under the historic overlay, and beyond the crush of the tourist crowds, someone is seeking to destroy the glory that is Firenze, one body at a time. Can Imogene decipher a reason from all the research she’s been doing? Can she avoid becoming a victim herself?

Janice MacDonald is a Canadian author of mystery novels, textbooks, non-fiction titles, and stories for both children and adults. She is best known for writing seven novels featuring amateur sleuth Miranda “Randy” Craig. The Randy Craig Mysteries were the first detective series to be set in Edmonton, Alberta. My Heart Belongs to Dante is the third installment of the wildly popular Imogene Durant Mysteries which features an intrepid retired comparative literature professor as she travels abroad, exploring new locales in concert with the literature of the area.

Established in 1976, Turnstone Press publishes some of the most exciting and innovative poetry, fiction, and nonfiction in Canada. In 1998, Turnstone Press launched its genre imprint, Ravenstone, publishing mysteries, thrillers, cli-fi, and speculative fiction.
