John Moss was born in Waterloo Country, Ontario, in 1940. He swam the Hellespont in 1962 and has since travelled widely, especially in the Arctic; he has received awards in a variety of marathon sports. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2006 in recognition of his career as a professor of Canadian literature with over a score of books in his field, John has moved progressively away from literary criticism to creative writing, before settling comfortably into his 'Quin and Morgan'
