Margaret Sweatman
Margaret Sweatman was born in Winnipeg in 1953. She is a novelist, playwright, and lyricist. Her novels include Fox (winner of the McNally Robinson Book of the Year Award) and Sam and Angie. She has also written one chapbook, Private Property and the CD Broken Songs (Stacatto). Margaret was the winner of the inaugural John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Manitoba Writer. She has a BA in English and History from the University of Winnipeg and a MA from Simon Fraser University. Margaret lives in Winnipeg, where she teaches literature and creative writing.
Margaret Sweatman’s clean and elegant prose portrays the politics of a relationship in decline, and the cold and ugly passion that exists just under the surface of Sam and Angie’s upper-class set.
