Exactly 46 years ago this coming weekend, the biggest gold heist in Canadian history was foiled by...a Winnipeg blizzard.

After pulling off what could have been the perfect theft of 12 bars of gold bullion from the Winnipeg airport, Ken Leishman and his gang hid their treasure in a snow bank while the entire city was paralyzed by the white stuff from March 3 to 4, 1966.

To commemorate that force of nature and Leishman's gutsy masterminding, Turnstone Press is offering a "Real Steal" sale of 35% off the cover price for all online purchases from our website of Bandit: A Portrait of Ken Leishman, Wayne Tefs' bestselling novel. The sale ends March 11, the day Leishman was caught.

Bandit was released last May and was named McNally Robinson's top Manitoba bestseller (fiction) for 2011.

Wiebe, Cooley, and Annandale were also on duty at workshops during Sunday, October 23.
