FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WINNIPEG – Turnstone Press invites everyone who loves their surroundings to take part in our exciting new photo contest, Portraits of Your Neighbourhood

With Portraits of Winnipeg by Robert Sweeney it was impossible to adequately represent all of the architectural gems found in Winnipeg's and Manitoba's urban and rural landscapes. To bring the richness of Manitoba's architectural heritage to light, Turnstone Press is holding a photo contest.

We are asking everyone across the province of Manitoba, from Altona to Thompson, in any town or city to submit a picture of a favourite building in their community and tell us why it is so special. On February 14th, 2012 we will hold a random draw from the submitted pictures to select the winner of a limited edition print from the Portraits of Winnipeg Series and a signed copy of Portraits of Winnipeg (approx retail value $220).

For contest details and to submit your photo, please visit www.turnstonepress.com.

With over forty full colour illustrations of Winnipeg’s most loved locations, Portraits of Winnipeg captures the true spirit of the city. From Portage and Main to the Forks, to Kildonan Parks’ “Witch's Hut,” Sweeney’s keen eye captures familiar sights of Winnipeg and its surrounding suburban areas with extraordinary detail and precision.

Robert J. Sweeney is an award-winning building and product designer who has practiced in both Europe and North America. Having studied art and design, he has worked as an industrial design consultant for Canadian and international clients, and has won international awards for industrial and environmental design. He has previously collaborated with author Murray Peterson on two books featuring his sketches of famous Winnipeg buildings. Robert continues to produce Winnipeg- and Manitoba-themed sketches. Turnstone Press is one of Manitoba’s oldest independent literary presses, publishing quality fiction, non-fiction, and poetry for 35 years.
