Turnstone editor's legacy celebrated in The Art of the Book expo 2010

Manuela Dias was a gifted designer and book publisher who received numerous Manitoba Book Design of the Year Awards throughout her career. She spent several years as Managing Editor at Turnstone Press, setting a precedent for excellence in book design.

Turnstone Press is proud to have Manuela's legacy recognized in a display of award-winning books as part of this year's "The Art of the Book" exhibit presented by the Centre culturel franco-manitobain and the Association of Manitoba Book Publishers on June 10th from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., 340 Provencher Boulevard. Cash bar and light refreshments will be available.

All 35 Manuela Dias Book Design of the Year, and Best Illustrated Book of the Year award-winning books since 1992 will be on display. Turnstone Press titles that won Manitoba Book Design Awards included:

1992, You Don't Get to be a Saint designed by Marilyn Morton
1993, Lakes, Lures & Lodges designed by Manuela Dias
1995, One Room in a Castle designed by Manuela Dias
1996, Sam & Angie designed by Manuela Dias
1997, Bread, Wine and Angels designed by Manuela Dias

After the introduction of the Manuela Dias Book Design of the Year Award was instituted in 1998, Turnstone's winning titles included:

2004, 4 X 4 interior design by Sharon Caseburg, cover design by Tetro Design

This special exhibit is part of The Art of the Book, and exhibit by the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG), presented by the CCFM from May 20 to June 20.
